NELSONVILLE -Motorists traveling along Route 301 in Putnam County should give themselves additional time starting today, as the State Department of Transportation begins resurfacing a section of the east-west corridor from the Nelsonville village line to the south end of Canopus Lake at the Philipstown-Kent border.
The project is expected to take 20 days to complete and will include milling two inches of existing pavement, resurfacing it with a single overlay, and restoring pavement markings.
A DOT spokesperson said traffic will be supported with single-lane closures, with crews on the scene from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Route 301 is the primary east-west crossing in Putnam, carrying traffic from Carmel to Cold Spring.
