The Ohio State Buckeyes are known as wide receiver university for a reason. Ohio State has produced many first round wide receivers into the NFL over the years. The next wide receiver on the roster who could potentially be a first-round selection is Jeremiah Smith. He is entering his junior season and could very well be a top five selection in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Well, there is more talent entering the pipeline this season for Ohio State and head coach Ryan Day. Chris Henry Jr. will be a freshman this season and there is no doubt that he could have a significant role in the offense right away. Henry is also 6’5″ and weighs 195 lbs. It will be interesting to see if he could be another typical talented Buckeyes wide receiver who will be a major player.

Ohio State Buckeyes Freshman WR Chris Henry Jr. Could Potentially Have a Big Season

Manny Navarro of the Athletic wrote about several freshman who could potentially make a big difference during their freshman season. He thinks that Henry on Ohio State could make an impact right away in the wide receiver room. Navarro said,

“The Buckeyes always have a few freshmen who find their way into significant roles, and Henry — the No. 2 receiver in the class — will be expected to play a supporting role to All-American Jeremiah Smith. Although UTSA transfer Devin McCuin has been stellar in camp along with veteran Brandon Inniss, Henry is too talented not to contribute. He’s listed at 6-5, 211 pounds — up from 195 pounds when he arrived on campus in January — and can be especially effective in the red zone with Smith drawing double teams.”

If Henry has a big freshman season like Smith did when he first came to college, everyone will know that he is the next great Buckeyes receiver. It is a never-ending cycle with this talented wide receiver room. Everyone remembers when Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jaxon-Smith Njigba were freshmen with Ohio State as well. Brandon Inniss can’t be slept as well at the wide receiver position for Ohio State this season. However, all eyes will be on Henry because he is another five-star recruit entering the Buckeyes program also.
