The Vanderbilt Commodores finished with a 10-3 record last season in college football. Vanderbilt put themselves in the college football playoffs conversation and the Commodores hope to be in the conversation for years to come. Head coach Clark Lea is hoping to find more success in the future. Quarterback Diego Pavia put this program on the map.

Now, Vanderbilt is looking to make more noise this season in college football. One of the reasons why the Commodores could be special for the next several seasons is because of quarterback Jared Curtis. He is a five-star recruit from the Nashville, Tennessee area. He decided to play for Vanderbilt and not for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. It is going to be interesting to see what Curtis is going to do in the long run for this football program.

Manny Navaro of the Athletic listed many freshmen who could potentially shake up the 2026 college football season. One of those freshmen happen to be quarterback Curtis for Vanderbilt. He said about him,

“Clark Lea has let the competition for the starting job bleed into fall camp, but it’s hard to imagine a world where Curtis — the No. 2 quarterback in the 2026 cycle — doesn’t eventually beat out veteran Blaze Berlowitz as the starter in the post-Diego Pavia era. The Nashville native didn’t flip from Georgia to sit the bench for long. The highest-rated recruit in program history, Curtis is 6-3, 230 pounds and has an NFL arm. He’s also being handsomely paid.”

He is 6’3″ and weighs 230 lbs. It will be interesting to see if Curtis will be named the starting quarterback. Whenever he becomes the starter, the ceiling for this program is going to be very high. Curtis could be one of the names in college football who makes a major impact as a freshman like Trevor Lawrence did with the Clemson Tigers nearly a decade ago.

The first game Vanderbilt will play is against the Austin Peay Governors on Saturday, September 5th at home. This could be another fun season ahead for this football program.
