The MLB trade deadline is on Monday, but the Los Angeles Dodgers made a move on Saturday night that is going to upset a lot of people across the baseball. The Dodgers traded for Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal for three prospects. A lot of fans want a work stoppage. They feel like the Dodgers are loading up on the top players in the league and this is why fans and the owners want a salary cap.

There also needs to be a salary floor. With this trade occurring, a lockout feels inevitable. Will there be a lockout throughout the entire 2027 MLB season? Owners and fans are preparing for this to happen after the latest trade occurred.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the verge of winning a World Series for the third straight season. If they win it all again, the other 29 MLB teams feel like they will have no chance to win a World Series if this system continues to be in place. This is why the sport needs a salary cap. This is what fans had to say about something on Twitter:
So how long will MLB lockout be?
Probably at least half the season, no joke.

When the majority of the fans would welcome a lockout rather than watch the sport, there’s a major problem.
That’s the state of @MLB.

@ESPNCleveland @TheOGPAW @TheRealTRizzo Is it wrong that I am rooting for the MLB lockout? A salary cap and floor are need immediately. The Dodgers are Thanos right now…collecting all the Infinity Stones.

It’s a bad sign for baseball when so many fans are actually hoping for a lockout now. #mlb#dodgers

Lockout 2027…and 2028.

It would be gross if the MLB was locked out for two seasons. With that being said, there are fans who want the MLB to have parity at this point. Going to a hard cap and other penalties needs to happen here.
