MAYBROOK – Village of Maybrook Mayor Dennis Leahy announced Saturday the death of Trustee William “Bill” Treco.
Leahy said Treco, 53, went into cardiac arrest Tuesday and never recovered.
“On behalf of the Village Board and the entire Village of Maybrook community, I extend our deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Leslie, his sons, Billy and Connor, and the entire Treco and Wentink families during this difficult time,” Leahy said. “Bill was a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about our community. His commitment to the Village of Maybrook and its residents will be remembered with gratitude and respect. His service, friendship and unwavering dedication have left a lasting impact on our village.”
Treco served in law enforcement in Orange County for 23 years with several agencies before retiring, including the Town of Montgomery Police Department, the Village of Maybrook Police Department, the Village of Walden Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Treco was first elected to the Village Board in 2023.
To honor Treco, Leahy said all Village of Maybrook flags will be flown at half-staff beginning Saturday through sunset on the day of his burial.
