WASHINGTON — Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is warning that China, Russia, Iran and North Korea are strengthening their cooperation against the interests of the United States and its allies.

During an appearance on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Blackburn described the countries as a growing “axis of evil” and identified China as a central player in the alliance.

“China is part of that axis of evil,” Blackburn said while discussing the expanding security threats facing the United States.

Blackburn warned that the four countries are increasingly sharing intelligence, technology, military resources and economic support. She argued that their cooperation should not be viewed as a collection of isolated threats but as a coordinated effort to weaken American influence and challenge freedom around the world.

The Tennessee senator has raised similar concerns for years. In 2022, Blackburn warned of a “new axis of evil” involving China, Russia, Iran and North Korea, saying the United States and other democratic nations could not afford to ignore their growing partnership.

China presents a particularly serious challenge because of its enormous economic reach, military expansion, technological ambitions and influence within international institutions.

The Chinese Communist Party has worked to expand its control over strategic supply chains, advanced technology, critical minerals and global infrastructure. It has also increased military pressure against Taiwan while strengthening its relationships with Russia, Iran and North Korea.

Blackburn’s warning comes as American officials continue to confront foreign cyberattacks, espionage, intellectual-property theft and influence operations.

U.S. intelligence officials have previously warned that China, Russia and Iran have attempted to exploit divisions within the United States and undermine public confidence in American institutions. China has denied allegations that it interferes in American elections or domestic politics.

Blackburn has argued that the United States must respond with strength rather than weakness.

That means protecting American technology, rebuilding domestic manufacturing, securing military supply chains and preventing adversarial nations from gaining control over critical infrastructure.

It also means recognizing that communist China is not merely a business competitor.

The Chinese Communist Party has made its ambitions clear. It seeks global dominance, greater control over international commerce and the ability to challenge the United States economically, militarily and technologically.

Russia continues its military aggression and cooperation with hostile governments. Iran supports militant organizations and continues working to expand its influence throughout the Middle East. North Korea remains a nuclear threat while supplying weapons and military assistance to its partners.

These governments may have different interests, but they share one important objective: reducing American power.

Blackburn’s warning should not be dismissed as political rhetoric.

America cannot protect its national interests while pretending its adversaries are acting independently. When hostile governments exchange weapons, intelligence, technology and financial support, the United States must recognize the alliance taking shape before it is too late.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized peace through strength, stronger borders, energy independence and rebuilding America’s military and industrial power.

Those policies are not simply political slogans. They are national-security necessities.

The United States must stop financing its own vulnerability by depending on China for essential products, critical minerals, medicine and technology. America must also stand firmly with its allies while making it clear that aggression will carry consequences.

China, Russia, Iran and North Korea are watching every decision America makes.

They are measuring our resolve, testing our defenses and looking for weakness.

Sen. Blackburn is right to sound the alarm.

China is not standing alone. It is part of a dangerous alliance seeking to reshape the world, and America must be prepared to confront that reality with strength, clarity and courage.
