Paul Pelosi, the 86-year-old husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is scheduled to appear in court next month after prosecutors filed charges stemming from an alleged hit-and-run crash involving a parked vehicle in Napa County.
The Napa County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday that Pelosi will face a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge in connection with the July 3 incident in Yountville, California.
Authorities allege Pelosi struck an unoccupied parked vehicle and left the scene. No injuries were reported, but the damaged vehicle sustained what officials described as “major” damage.
Pelosi was also charged with an infraction for allegedly making an unlawful turn during the incident.
A spokesperson for the Pelosi family said Pelosi later contacted the vehicle’s owner, apologized and agreed to accept full responsibility for the damage.
Pelosi is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 14.
