“A crime really was committed here…and that crime consists of six little words…”

The View co-host Sunny Hostin reportedly made sure police know who she was after they stopped her son for allegedly jogging alongside railroad tracks in Westchester County, New York.

According to what insiders supposedly told the New York Post, a cell phone conversation ensued during the incident, although Sunny Hostin may have physically shown up on scene, too.

“’Gabriel Hostin, 24, was spotted jogging along MTA tracks in New Rochelle on June 16, ignoring ‘no trespassing’ signs and giving lip to cops when they questioned him, sources said…

“‘They were just talking to the kid because he was trespassing, but his mother made it an issue,’ the sources said. ‘She wanted to know why he was stopped and why did they talk to him.’

“According to the sources, cops then got on the phone with the TV personality from the hit ABC talk show, who allegedly asked if they knew who she was. ‘She said I am Sunny Hostin, I am on The View,’ the source claimed she answered.”

Officers who may or may not have ever heard of Sunny Hostin issued a trespassing citation to her son.

It seems kind of odd for mommy to get directly involved on behalf of a grown man. Sunny Hostin is an attorney and former prosecutor, however.

Although the Post describes the Hostin’s show as a hit, The View is essentially a redundant, group-therapy session for liberal studio panelists afflicted with Trump derangement syndrome.

It arguably has marginal cultural significance other than through clips shared for ridicule purposes on social media. To that extent, it does provide content.

In a three-page letter to prosecutor Amanda Greene obtained by TMZ requesting a dismissal, or at least consideration for same, Hostin described herself as the lawyer for the defendant.

Hostin, among other things, explained that her client is an avid runner who was training in the area, that the no-trespassing sign in question was not visible because the gates were open, and that the whole incident constitutes an honest mistake.

As alluded to above, Hostin’s letter indicates that the defendant called her “immediately,” and she “arrived at the location within minutes.”

Gabriel Hostin is due back in New Rochelle, N.Y., court on July 31.

In general, this seems to be the type of infraction that is probably routinely dismissed without the need for a third party to play the celebrity card or the do-you-know-who-I-am card, but time will tell.

Sunny Hostin has not — yet — blamed President Donald Trump for the trespassing ticket.

In discussing the incident today, journalist Maureen Callahan, whose The Nerve podcast features “real talk about fake people,” quipped that “as if [co-hosting The View is] something to be proud of rather than embarrassed by. ‘Don’t you know who I am? Let my kid go…'”

Callahan also opined the following during her show:

“This is a very underreported story because Sunny’s got a lot of friends in the media, a lot of similarly thinking friends in the media. If this person were of a different stripe, politically, I would say, you would see this covered all over the place…’

“…I think just the act of writing that the letter, the DA should not at all drop that citation. That letter should affirm her decision to make this kid show up in court and, like, pay a fine for being such a privileged, entitled piece of sh-t and for having a mother who not only intervenes in this, but has the f—–g temerity to say, ‘don’t you know who I am?’”

In her Daily Mail column about the same subject matter, Callahan noted that “No one is above the law,’ is one of Sunny’s favorite refrains — always when it comes to President Trump. As a former federal prosecutor — which we can never forget, because Sunny reminds us constantly on her terrible show — shouldn’t Sunny have intellectual fidelity to that idea? Or does her declaration apply only to Republicans?”

She also asserted that “Gabriel Hostin wasn’t arrested. There is zero accusation here that he was racially profiled — and that’s huge, because Sunny loves to racialize anything and anyone she can.”

Her article concluded with this thought: “A crime really was committed here, alright. And that crime consists of six little words: Don’t you know who I am?”

Multi-millionaire Hostin, who doesn’t seem to have a particularly sunny disposition, recently claimed that she feels unsafe in a neighborhood where many American flags are on display.

She also claimed that Darline Graham, who was appointed to finish out brother Lindsey Graham’s term in the U.S. Senate, was a DEI hire.
