Kuwait’s military activated its air defense systems Thursday as Iran launched another round of missile and drone attacks against the country, extending a series of strikes on neighboring Arab nations that host U.S. forces.
The Kuwaiti army said its defenses were actively confronting incoming threats and told residents that explosions heard during the attacks were caused by interception systems engaging hostile targets.
“The Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting attacks by hostile drones, following the sinful Iranian aggression,” the army said in a statement.
“The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosion sounds heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile targets,” it added.
The military urged the public to follow official directions as the attacks continued.
“Everyone is requested to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities,” the statement said.
The latest assault came after Iran launched repeated waves of missile and drone strikes against Arab countries in the region that accommodate American military installations.
Kuwait’s announcement indicated that its forces were again responding to Iranian attacks Thursday, although officials did not immediately disclose whether any missiles or drones reached their intended targets.
The military also did not immediately report casualties or damage.
A social media post documenting the developing attack accompanied reports of the renewed Iranian strikes.
The latest interceptions underscored the growing exposure of U.S.-aligned countries as the conflict expands beyond direct exchanges between Iran and American forces.
Kuwait hosts U.S. military personnel and facilities, making it one of several regional states targeted by Tehran during the recent escalation.
By directing residents to follow government safety instructions and explaining the source of the explosions, Kuwaiti authorities sought to prevent panic while air defenses continued operating.
The attack marked another escalation in Iran’s campaign against regional countries connected to the U.S. military presence and raised renewed concerns that continued missile and drone launches could widen the conflict across the Persian Gulf.
