CLARKSTOWN – A 67-year-old Pomona man died after his vehicle crashed on the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Rockland County on Thursday morning, according to the State Police

Troopers from the Haverstraw barracks responded at about 9:16 a.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash near mile marker 18.6, in the vicinity of Exit 9E in the Town of Clarkstown.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2016 Subaru was traveling in the left northbound lane when it veered onto the eastern shoulder for reasons that remain under investigation and struck a guide rail.

The driver, identified as Joseph T. Wolosz, was the vehicle’s sole occupant. He was extricated from the Subaru by passersby before emergency responders arrived.

First responders performed life-saving measures at the scene before Wolosz was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

State Police said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
