France reportedly was ready for a “shooting war” with America after the U.S. raid that captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Let that sink in.
Not Iran. Not China. Not Russia. America.
According to reports citing The Wall Street Journal, French President Emmanuel Macron had French forces positioned in Greenland alongside Danish special forces after the Maduro raid created a diplomatic firestorm. Macron publicly criticized the U.S. operation, saying France did not support the method used to remove Maduro from power.
And this is where the arrogance of the global elite shows itself.
Maduro was not some innocent elected leader minding his own business. He was a dictator accused of destroying Venezuela, crushing opposition and helping turn a once-prosperous nation into a warning sign for the rest of the world.
America acted. Macron complained.
That tells you a lot.
These European elites love to lecture America about law, order and democracy while depending on American strength when the world gets dangerous. They want our protection, our money, our military power and our leadership — but the moment America takes decisive action, they clutch their pearls and pretend they are the moral authority.
Macron and his elite friends need to understand something.
America is not France’s servant. America is not NATO’s ATM machine. America is not required to ask permission from Paris before protecting our national interests.
And if France truly believed it was ready for a war with America, that would have been one of the worst miscalculations in modern history.
The United States military is the most powerful fighting force on earth. France may have influence, history and a seat at the diplomatic table, but let us not pretend this would have ended well for Macron.
It would not have.
This is not about hating France. This is about telling the truth. Allies do not posture like enemies. Allies do not prepare for a shooting war with the nation that helped liberate Europe, helped stabilize NATO and continues to carry the burden of Western defense.
Macron’s problem is the same problem many global elites have. They are more upset when America acts with strength than when dictators brutalize their own people.
That is backward.
The Maduro raid sent a message to the world. America is still capable of acting. America is still capable of reaching bad actors. America is still capable of reminding dictators that there are consequences.
And maybe that is what scared Macron the most.
Because strong American leadership exposes weak European leadership.
Macron can talk tough. He can posture for the cameras. He can stand with his elite friends and pretend France is ready to challenge the United States.
But the truth is simple.
If France had picked a fight with America, it would not have gone the way Macron imagined.
America does not need permission to be America.
And the global elites would do well to remember that.
