MID-HUDSON – Temperatures throughout the Hudson Valley topped the century mark Thursday with more extremely hot and humid conditions forecast for today and Saturday.

Temperatures reached 101 degrees in both Carmel and Middletown on Thursday afternoon, breaking the daily record, according to the National Weather Service, and marking the warmest July 2 since 2012.

Area lakes and pools were crowded with swimmers seeking relief from the heat, while emergency responders across the region handled additional calls for people overcome by the sweltering conditions.
