A U.S. Air Force major was arrested Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol while calling for President Donald Trump’s impeachment.

Maj. Jason Watson was taken into custody after allegedly demonstrating on the Capitol steps, the Washington Times reported. Demonstrations in that area are prohibited unless the person is accompanied by a member of Congress.

Watson had initially appeared with Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, following an impeachment press conference organized by the Removal Coalition, a grassroots group focused on removing Trump from office.

After Green left the area, Capitol Police instructed Watson to end the demonstration or face arrest. Police said Watson refused to comply, and officers arrested him.

Watson had spoken at the press conference before the arrest, accusing top officials in the executive branch of violating the Constitution.

“For the past 18 months, we the people have allowed the highest levels of the executive branch of the federal government to violate our Constitution and their oath to it with impunity,” Watson said.

The arrest occurred as activists and Democratic allies continued pushing impeachment efforts against Trump, with Watson’s detention drawing attention because of his status as an active U.S. Air Force officer.
