GOSHEN – Like other counties in the Mid-Hudson, Orange is facing a softening of its sales tax income.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus pointed to the same reason as officials in other counties.

“People are feeling the inflation. They are also feeling the impacts of local property taxes going up in school districts and even some villages and towns,” he said.

Neuhaus said local municipalities are seeing a softening of the economy as a result.

Federal tariffs on imported goods and the rising cost of gasoline have also driven up consumer prices placing a burden on households.
