SPRING VALLEY – Eric Stark is beginning the latest chapter in his career long educational journey.

Stark, who served as Carmel School District’s assistant superintendent for business for more than 14 years, has been appointed interim superintendent of the East Ramapo School District in Rockland County.

Stark also served in 2020 as Interim Superintendent in Carmel following the sudden resignation of former Superintendent Andy Irvin.

More recently, Stark was employed as Assistant Superintendent in the North Salem School District and is currently Assistant Superintendent in East Ramapo, a district educating 35,000 children headquartered in Spring Valley where the majority attend private schools or yeshivas.

Stark is past president of the NYS Schools Insurance Reciprocal serving as a member of its Board of Governors for over a decade.

East Ramapo found itself in a quandary, appointing Stark, since the Board of Education is in negotiations with a new chief school administrator and Board of Education President Shimon Rose said he hoped to have a contract signed sometime next month.
