President Donald Trump is set to open the Great American State Fair on Wednesday night with a large National Mall event tied to the upcoming celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

The kickoff event, described by Trump as a “Rally to America,” is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Eastern on June 24. The rally will launch a 16-day fair in Washington, D.C., intended to showcase American history, culture, innovation, military service, faith, industry and state pride.

“Get ready, everybody, because on Wednesday, the 24th coming up… we have the biggest rally we’ve ever had,” Trump said in a video message ahead of the event.

Trump said the event will feature music selected for the crowd and described it as one of the most ambitious rallies of his political career.

“It’s going to be on the National Mall. It’s our music, our playlist. We don’t have a lot of people boring you with songs that you don’t want to hear. We have the hottest people, the hottest everything. It’s going to be one of the best rallies we’ve ever done,” Trump said.

The president said the event will combine the atmosphere of a political rally with a national celebration.

“It’s going to be fantastic. It’s going to be essentially a rally, but we’ll call it a rally to America,” Trump said. “We’re honoring the 250th and it’s going to be something very, very special. You’re going to love it. We’re going to all have a lot of fun together.”

A Freedom 250 post promoted the upcoming kickoff as part of the broader celebration.

The Great American State Fair is being billed as a modern version of a World’s Fair, with programming designed to highlight achievements, traditions and future ambitions from across the country.

According to Freedom 250, the fair will include 150 exhibits from “all 56 states and territories, businesses, innovators, and civic organizations.” The organization said the event will “showcase the very best of America through state pavilions, industry displays, family-friendly attractions, movie screenings, musical performances, military ensembles, spectacular flyovers, daily cultural programming, and an iconic Ferris wheel on the National Mall.”

The fair will run through Friday, July 10, with each day centered on a separate theme.

The opening day theme is “The American Canon: Opening Day,” followed by “Land & Prosperity” on Friday and “The American Canvas” on Saturday. Sunday will be “Military & Veterans Appreciation Day,” while Monday will focus on “Everyday Health and Well Being (MAHA Monday).”

The schedule continues with “Future of America” on Tuesday and “Faith, Values, and Inspiration” on Wednesday. Additional daily themes include “Horsepower of America,” “Heritage & Legacy,” “The Next 250” and others.

Preparations were visible this week as crews erected a large Ferris wheel on the National Mall ahead of the celebration.

“For 16 days, you can take in the view from the top, walk the state pavilions, and experience the best of America at the Great American State Fair,” Freedom 250 said, sharing an image of the structure.

Another post showed the Ferris wheel installation as the National Mall prepared for the event.

The celebration is part of the lead-up to America’s 250th anniversary, with Trump and organizers framing the fair as a nationwide tribute to the country’s founding, states, territories, military, culture and future.
