ROSCOE – After four decades of “rusting in place,” two historic train cars at the Roscoe O&W Railway Museum are back to life. Over a recent three-day weekend, a crew of local volunteers applied fresh coats of paint, successfully beating an earlier setback from winter snows. Museum officials say the fresh look caught the attention of local townspeople and was completed just in time for the summer tourist season. Curator Lisa Robinson talked about the restoration.
“We’re really trying to bring the museum back to life for the community, families, and visitors.”
Her sister Karil Davidson says it was about time.
“A lot of people thought it was an eyesore.”
Sullivan 180 gave the museum a grant to beautify the area, and Robinson talked about the plans for the money.
“We are prepping the front for a Borscht Belt marker that’s going to be dedicated July 11th.”
