President Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States will launch further strikes against Iran and move to take control of Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure as the administration escalates military and economic pressure on Tehran.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said Iran’s military capabilities have been largely destroyed and warned that additional U.S. action is imminent.

“The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT,” Trump wrote.

Trump also said the United States would target Iran’s energy infrastructure, including Kharg Island, the country’s key oil-export terminal.

“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets,” Trump said.

Kharg Island has long been central to Iran’s ability to export crude oil and generate hard-currency revenue. Energy analysts have historically viewed the facility as one of the most important assets in Tehran’s oil economy.

Trump said the planned approach would resemble his administration’s strategy toward Venezuela.

“We will … assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America,” Trump wrote.

The president’s comments came as U.S. and Iranian forces exchanged strikes for a second consecutive day, further raising tensions in the region.

Recent U.S. attacks targeted Iranian military surveillance systems, communications infrastructure and air-defense sites. Iran claimed it responded by launching missiles toward countries that host U.S. military installations, including Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.

Regional governments reported interceptions and limited damage. Officials said casualties were minimal.

The latest escalation follows weeks of conflict involving Iran’s nuclear program and Tehran’s actions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy shipping route. The United States has maintained a naval blockade against Iranian ports while seeking to keep commercial shipping moving through the region.

Diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran remain stalled. The Trump administration has demanded that Iran permanently abandon any path to a nuclear weapon. Iranian officials have continued seeking sanctions relief and access to frozen assets.

Trump’s latest warning indicates the White House believes increased military and economic pressure may force Tehran to accept U.S. terms.

By threatening Iran’s remaining military capabilities and its oil-export infrastructure, the administration is signaling that the conflict could move from targeted strikes to a broader campaign aimed at Tehran’s revenue base.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump concluded.
