MAHOPAC- A Mahopac man is lucky to be alive after losing control of his car on Route 6 in Mahopac forcing the vehicle to overturn several times before landing upright.
Nine-one-one calls sent members of the Carmel Police Department, Mahopac Fire Department, Mahopac FD Rescue Squad, Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a Putnam Empress paramedic to the scene Saturday where responders found the demolished vehicle.
The car’s windows were shattered; the roof was crushed; and fluid was leaking from the vehicle.
Emergency responders feared the worst until a man appeared saying that he was the operator of the vehicle and managed to escape the wreckage with minor injuries.
The unidentified driver was taken to Putnam Hospital Center for medical evaluation.
A resident of Carmel who was driving along Route 6 at the time said she never “saw anything like it. The car just started to flip over. What a lucky guy!”
Route 6 in Mahopac was closed for more than an hour while crews cleared the wreckage and debris and police completed the accident investigation.
