U.S. President Donald Trump announced that leading artificial intelligence executives will visit the White House next week, signaling the administration’s growing focus on maintaining America’s leadership in the rapidly expanding AI sector.

The announcement comes as the White House advances new policies aimed at accelerating AI innovation while strengthening national security and cybersecurity safeguards.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said the United States remains “ahead in AI than any other country” and revealed that his administration is also exploring the possibility of acquiring public stakes in leading artificial intelligence companies.

The proposal, if pursued, would mark one of the most significant government interventions in the country’s technology industry.

“We might buy U.S. stakes in artificial-intelligence companies,” Trump told reporters, adding that a meeting with top AI executives could take place as early as next week.

Although the White House has not officially released the list of participants, discussions are expected to involve executives from some of the country’s largest AI developers and technology firms. Reports indicate that companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and other major industry players are among those being considered for future policy discussions, though none has confirmed participation.

The announcement follows a series of AI-focused initiatives unveiled by the administration. Earlier this week, President Trump signed executive actions designed to promote advanced artificial intelligence innovation while strengthening cybersecurity and protecting critical infrastructure. The measures encourage voluntary cooperation between AI developers and the federal government to evaluate the security of advanced AI models before public release and support the use of AI across national security agencies.

The administration has also directed federal departments to accelerate AI adoption while ensuring systems are deployed responsibly and remain consistent with U.S. laws and national interests.

Trump’s remarks about potential government ownership in AI companies have sparked widespread attention across the technology and financial sectors.

Artificial intelligence has become a strategic priority for Washington amid intensifying global competition, particularly with China, as governments race to secure leadership in advanced computing, semiconductor technology and next-generation AI systems.

The upcoming White House meeting is expected to focus on innovation, investment, cybersecurity, national security applications and the future direction of America’s AI industry.
