Amid growing international pressure and criticism over its military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) continued targeting Hamas and Hezbollah operatives on Thursday, announcing the elimination of at least five terrorists in separate operations.
Israel, which maintains that its military campaign is aimed at dismantling terrorist organizations and protecting its citizens from ongoing threats, said several senior Hamas security officials and Hezbollah operatives were killed during the latest actions.
According to the IDF, four senior members of Hamas’ General Security Apparatus were eliminated in targeted strikes. The apparatus is responsible for safeguarding Hamas leadership, facilitating the movement of senior figures between emergency facilities, and producing intelligence assessments for the organization.
Those killed were identified as Hassan Rabah Hassan Labad, Deputy Head of Hamas’ General Security Apparatus, along with Asim Amin Shalash Shubair, Abdullah Ata Younes Abu Kaloub, and Muhammad Naaman Zaki Abu Mark.
The Israeli military stated that these individuals played significant roles in maintaining Hamas’ internal security network and supporting the organization’s leadership infrastructure.
In a separate operation in southern Lebanon, IDF troops identified and eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist who was armed with a Kalashnikov rifle and operating near Israeli forces north of the Litani River.
The military also reported discovering a large weapons storage facility containing dozens of weapons and military supplies. Among the items seized were Kalashnikov rifles, shotguns, a surface-to-air missile, ammunition, grenades, and additional combat equipment.
Additionally, Israeli forces carried out strikes against two Hezbollah terrorist cells that were operating in the areas of Tyre and Shaqra in southern Lebanon. The IDF said the cells were actively engaged in activities that posed a threat to Israeli troops operating in the region.
The latest operations come as Israel faces increasing diplomatic pressure over its military actions in both Gaza and Lebanon. Israeli officials continue to argue that operations against Hamas and Hezbollah are necessary to neutralize terrorist threats and prevent future attacks against Israel. Meanwhile, international organizations and several governments have renewed calls for restraint and greater protection of civilians as the conflicts continue.
