A former Pentagon official who helped lead the federal government’s investigation into unidentified aerial phenomena is preparing to release a memoir that claims U.S. authorities have concealed information about nonhuman intelligence for decades.
Jay Stratton, a veteran intelligence and defense official who spent 16 years investigating UFOs and UAPs, is set to publish “Out of the Shadows: Revealing the Truth About Non-Human Intelligent Life” on Oct. 13.
Stratton served as the first director of the Pentagon’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force and held the civilian equivalent of a two-star general rank. He also helped launch a government effort to investigate unexplained objects reported near U.S. nuclear weapons sites.
Stratton became more widely known after appearing in last year’s documentary, “The Age of Disclosure,” where he made a direct claim about what he said he had personally witnessed.
“I have seen with my own eyes,” Stratton said, “nonhuman craft and nonhuman beings.”
According to HarperCollins, Stratton’s memoir will describe what he believes was an 80-year effort inside the intelligence community to keep information about nonhuman intelligent life from the public, Congress and presidents.
“Operating in the shadows of the intelligence community, Stratton discovered an 80-year cover-up of the existence of nonhuman intelligent life and fought back against powerful gatekeepers who have hid the truth from the public, Congress, and even presidents,” the publisher said in a statement to People.
Stratton retired from government service in 2022. HarperCollins said the book will recount investigative experiences that changed his view of humanity’s place in the universe and affected both him and his family.
Those encounters, the publisher said, “profoundly altered his understanding of humanity’s place in the universe and took a disturbing toll on him and his family.”
The memoir is being released as UFOs and UAPs receive growing attention from lawmakers, military officials and the public. Congressional hearings, whistleblower claims, declassified military material and Pentagon records have increased pressure on federal agencies to disclose more information about unexplained aerial phenomena.
A presidential directive issued in February ordered federal agencies to declassify evidence related to UAPs and nonhuman intelligent life.
According to the publisher, Stratton has worked with the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the War Department to obtain and review evidence for possible public release.
Dan Farah, the director and producer of “The Age of Disclosure”, has secured television and film rights to Stratton’s memoir.
“After discovering the related national security concerns and a potential existential threat, Jay defied powerful institutional gatekeepers and risked everything in order to reveal that humanity is not alone in the universe and to ensure the government takes action,” Farah said, according to People.
The book’s release is expected to draw attention from both UAP disclosure advocates and skeptics as federal officials continue to face demands for transparency over what the government knows about unexplained aerial phenomena.
