WALDEN – Former Town of Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone was named interim Village of Walden manager on Tuesday night.

Cardone, 64, replaces John Revella, who was fired by the Village Board of Trustees in early May after 16 years in the position.

“I am excited to assist Walden in stabilizing its daily operations and working collaboratively with the village staff,” said Cardone, who will start on Wednesday. “It is a great village, and I’m honored that the Village Board has given me its vote of confidence.”

Cardone, a Republican, will serve in a part-time capacity and will likely hold the position only temporarily. He could be tasked with assisting the Village Board in finding his successor.

Cardone was elected Town of Monroe supervisor in 2017 and served two four-year terms. He lost the 2025 election to Democrat Maureen Richardson. In Walden, he is expected to provide steady and experienced leadership during a turbulent period for the village.

Revella’s dismissal came two months after he was federally indicted on allegations that he filed false tax returns. Federal prosecutors allege that Revella, who also serves as an Orange County legislator, underpaid his federal taxes by $383,322 for tax years 2019 through 2022.

He is also at the center of an investigation by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office into the Village of Walden’s Housing Rehabilitation Program. Multiple subpoenas have been issued during the probe, which centers on select participants, including a local real estate agent and his family, who may not have been eligible for the low-interest loans. Revella allegedly oversaw and approved the loans.
