Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was filmed handling two snakes with his bare hands while helping Dr. Mehmet Oz remove the reptiles from a patio, according to a video circulating online.
The video shows Kennedy approaching two black racer snakes and picking them up as the reptiles bite him during the encounter. Footage of the incident was shared in an X post.
“Well they’re having sex,” Oz told Kennedy as he handled the snakes.
Kennedy’s wife, Cheryl Hines, expressed concern that the snakes could be dangerous. Kennedy told her they were not water moccasins.
“They’re not [water] moccasins,” Kennedy said.
“God, you are nuts,” Hines told him as he held the snakes by their tails.
The encounter is the latest animal-related episode involving Kennedy to draw attention online. Earlier this month, he posted a photo documenting the rescue of a starling bird at Dulles Airport, which was also shared in an X post.
Kennedy’s history with animals has previously made headlines. Other reported incidents include picking up a dead bear cub from the side of a road and placing it in New York’s Central Park near an old bicycle, cutting the head off a dead whale that had washed ashore and cutting the penis off a dead raccoon.
The snake-handling video added another episode to Kennedy’s unusual record of wildlife encounters, this time involving a live pair of nonvenomous snakes and a patio visit with Oz.
