Israel paid tribute to fallen American service members on Monday as the nation joined the United States in observing Memorial Day, using the occasion to emphasize the deep bond and longstanding alliance between the two countries.

In a message shared across official government platforms, Israel’s Foreign Ministry expressed solidarity with the American people and honored the sacrifices made by U.S. troops throughout history.

“Today, on U.S. Memorial Day, Israel stands with America,” the ministry wrote in a statement accompanying a commemorative video. “We honor the brave men and women who gave their lives defending liberty and protecting the values shared by our free nations.”

The tribute video, which was distributed through official Israeli government social media accounts, reflected on the sacrifices of American soldiers and underscored the shared commitment between the United States and Israel to democracy, security, and freedom.

“Today, on the U.S. Memorial Day, we, the people of Israel, salute the American soldiers who have protected not only the U.S., but the free world time and again,” the video narration stated. “Israel knows well the heavy price of fighting for existence and for freedom.”

The message carried particular significance this year amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and continued cooperation between Washington and Jerusalem against common regional threats. Israeli officials used the occasion not only to remember fallen American heroes but also to reinforce the strategic and emotional ties binding the two allies together.

“Together, we stand with you in honoring those who fell,” the video continued. “We defend our people, our freedom, and our democratic and common values.”

Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, also issued a heartfelt Memorial Day statement recognizing the sacrifices made by generations of American military personnel.

“This Memorial Day, we remember the men and women who have sacrificed everything for this great country, the United States of America,” Leiter said. “As we know in Israel only too well, freedom and prosperity must not be taken for granted.”

The Israel Defense Forces also released a Memorial Day tribute, honoring the courage and dedication of American service members who fought and died in defense of their nation.

“Today, on U.S. Memorial Day, we honor the American troops who risked their lives for their country,” the military said in its statement.

Meanwhile, the Consulate General of Israel in New York shared its own message of remembrance, expressing support for American families mourning loved ones lost in military service.

“This Memorial Day, we stand with our American brothers and sisters as we honor and remember the brave soldiers who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. military and defending freedom, democracy, and life,” the statement read.

The official Israeli Embassy account in the United States echoed similar sentiments, describing America as a symbol of liberty whose strength has been built through sacrifice.

“The United States has always been a beacon of freedom for the world, and the men and women who gave their lives defending it made that beacon possible,” the embassy wrote.

Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump commemorated Memorial Day during a solemn ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, where he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier alongside Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“With reverent hearts, we honor those who fell so that our republic might stand, those who died so that our nation could live,” Trump said during the ceremony.

Trump also referenced recent military operations involving Iran during his Memorial Day remarks, specifically honoring the 13 American service members killed during “Operation Epic Fury.” He praised their sacrifice while reaffirming his administration’s stance against Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.

“In Operation Epic Fury, we lost 13 wonderful souls, wonderful, special people,” Trump said. “These incredible men and women gave their lives to ensure that the world’s number one state sponsor of terror will never have a nuclear weapon.”

“They will never have a nuclear weapon,” Trump emphasized.

The The White House also released a Memorial Day statement, calling the holiday a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
