Corey Day added another major win to his growing résumé Saturday after beating JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier in the BetRivers 200 at Dover Motor Speedway. The victory was Day’s second win of the 2026 season and the second of his O’Reilly Series career. Day showed speed throughout the entire weekend. During Saturday’s practice session, he turned a lap of 23.902 seconds and quickly established himself as one of the fastest drivers in the field. He followed that performance with another strong run in qualifying, posting a 23.417-second lap to secure the third starting position ahead of Joe Gibbs Racing driver Brandon Jones.

The difference between Day’s practice and qualifying laps was minimal, continuing the consistency he has shown throughout the season. Week after week, the No. 17 team has continued putting fast cars on the track, and Day has taken advantage of it. The strong performances have also started fueling speculation about his future. Hendrick Motorsports already features some of the biggest names in the Cup Series, including Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott, and William Byron. Even with that lineup, Day has become one of the drivers people continue talking about as a possible future Cup Series option.

There have already been rumors swirling that Day could eventually replace Bowman in the No. 48 car as early as 2027 if his current pace continues. Bowman has struggled for consistency this season and currently sits in the middle of one of the toughest years of his career. Earlier this week, Hendrick Motorsports spotter Freddie Kraft discussed the situation surrounding the No. 48 team and hinted that changes could eventually become part of the conversation. Bowman has missed four races this season because of vertigo-related issues and has yet to win a race. He has also recorded just two top-five finishes, two top-10s, and a pair of DNFs.

For now, Day continues gaining momentum every time he climbs into the car. His win at Dover added another strong result to an already impressive season and showed he can handle the pressure against experienced veterans on one of the toughest tracks in NASCAR. With multiple wins already this year and more people around the garage starting to notice his consistency, the conversation around his future in the Cup Series is only going to keep growing as the season moves forward.
