During an appearance on Sid & Friends in the Morning, Trump said Iran’s military capabilities have been severely degraded and argued that economic pressure and military operations have weakened the regime.

Speaking with host Sid Rosenberg in an interview available on Sid & Friends in the Morning, Trump said Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons.

“We cannot let them have a nuclear weapon because they’d use it,” Trump said. “And if that goes off, you want to see a travesty. That would be unbelievable.”

Trump stated that recent military actions and sanctions have significantly damaged Iran’s capabilities.

“We’ve wiped out their navy, wiped out their air force,” Trump said. “It’s just a question of time.”

The president also pointed to ongoing sanctions and economic restrictions targeting Tehran.

“We have a blockade which gives them no money,” Trump said. “We don’t have to rush anything.”

Trump expressed confidence that Iran could ultimately be prevented from enriching uranium or producing a nuclear weapon.

“Oh, 100%,” he said when asked whether Iran could be stopped from building a bomb.

The president again defended his decision to withdraw the United States from the Obama-era Iran nuclear agreement negotiated under former President Barack Obama.

“If I didn’t terminate the Iran nuclear deal signed by Barack Hussein Obama … it was one of the worst deals ever made,” Trump said, arguing the agreement would have eventually allowed Iran to obtain nuclear weapons capability.

“They would have had a nuclear weapon four years ago and they would have used it on Israel, and they would have used it on the Middle East and maybe beyond that,” Trump added.

Trump also rejected reports suggesting friction between himself and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“I get along great with Bibi,” Trump said. “We’ve been partners in the true sense.”

The president additionally referenced China’s economic relationship with Iran ahead of expected discussions with Chinese officials, noting Beijing’s reliance on Iranian oil exports.

“We do have a good relationship,” Trump said of China. “But we’re stronger than China.”

Throughout the interview, Trump repeatedly praised the strength of the U.S. military and criticized media coverage of the conflict, specifically singling out The New York Times.

“If you read the New York Times, you think that Iran is doing well,” Trump said. “They have no air force. They have no navy. They have no leaders.”
