In Qatar’s vibrant photography community, Geraldine Menezes Fernandes has carved a unique identity for herself, earning recognition as “Camera Queen Qatar” for her dedication to preserving life’s most cherished memories through photography.
Originally from India but born and raised in Doha, Geraldine has spent much of her life surrounded by cameras, creativity, and memorable moments. What began as childhood curiosity eventually transformed into a successful professional journey that has now spanned over a decade.
From an early age, Geraldine developed a passion for photography by experimenting with her father’s camera and occasionally borrowing her brother’s equipment. Whether it was school annual day celebrations, university functions, or family gatherings, she quickly became known among friends and relatives as the person always ready to document important occasions.
Her natural interest in capturing special moments gradually evolved into a full-time profession nearly 10 years ago, when she decided to pursue photography as a career.
Today, Geraldine has become one of the well-known names in family photography across Qatar, specialising in capturing milestones that matter most — from birthdays and maternity shoots to weddings, family portraits, and celebrations that hold emotional significance.
According to Geraldine, the most fulfilling part of her profession is documenting genuine emotions and preserving memories that families can treasure forever.
“My favourite thing about being a family photographer is capturing those precious moments of love,” she says.
She believes photography involves far more than technical skills. For her, it is built on trust, responsibility, and creating long-lasting relationships with clients.
Over the years, many of her first-time customers have returned to her repeatedly for major family events, something she considers one of her biggest achievements.
“I am not only a family photographer, I am their family photographer,” she says proudly.
Her work has allowed her to become a familiar face at many households across Qatar, where she continues to document birthdays, weddings, newborn celebrations, anniversaries, and other important family milestones.
Beyond her professional success, Geraldine is also passionate about encouraging aspiring photographers to pursue their dreams.
She advises newcomers to remain passionate about their craft and focus on creating meaningful work.
“Enjoy what you’re doing, put your heart into it, and you’ll be rewarded with love and gratitude in return,” she says.
As Qatar’s creative industry continues to grow, Geraldine Fernandes remains a shining example of how passion, dedication, and creativity can turn childhood dreams into a fulfilling career — one photograph at a time.
