Australian musician Keli Holiday has been forced to end his North American tour early after US border officials denied him re-entry from Canada, despite what he said was valid visa documentation.

Holiday, whose real name is Adam Hyde and who is also known as one half of the electronic duo Peking Duk, revealed over the weekend that he had been detained at the US-Canada border while attempting to travel from Toronto back to New York for a scheduled performance.

“I have spent all day detained at the Canadian border and denied entry back into the US despite having the proper visa documentation in place,” Holiday wrote on social media, adding that he was still seeking clarification about the decision.

The incident sparked online speculation after Holiday’s partner, Australian television host Abbie Chatfield, apologised Tuesday for a video she posted in July 2025 that criticised US President Donald Trump.

In the video, Chatfield discussed Luigi Mangione, the man accused of fatally shooting Brian Thompson in December 2024. Mangione is expected to face both state and federal trials later this year.

Chatfield said her comments had been misunderstood and denied advocating political violence against Trump. She also stressed that Hyde had never seen the video.

“I also want to make it clear Adam hadn’t even seen this video, so any vitriol toward him is unwarranted,” she said in a 10-minute statement.

The controversy comes amid proposed US rules requiring some foreign visitors to disclose five years of social media history before entry.
