STEWART AIRPORT – Flights between New York Stewart International Airport and Raleigh-Durham began (yesterday) Wednesday aboard Breeze Airways.

The non-daily service will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays with arrivals from Raleigh-Durham scheduled for 11:25 a.m. and departures from Stewart at 12:05 p.m. The airline is also marketing the flights to Tampa as they will continue on after the Raleigh-Durham stop.

Raleigh-Durham service from Stewart is nothing new. The second destination from the airport back in April 1990 was Raleigh-Durham, seven days per week. That began on American Airlines, but shifted to the now-defunct Midway Airlines, which folded after all airlines were grounded following the September 11 terrorist attacks.

In addition to the new Breeze service, the low-cost carrier also flies non-daily to Orlando, Tampa and seasonally to Charleston, South Carolina.

The other airline at Stewart, low-cost Allegiant, also operates non-daily flights to Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Punta Gorda, St. Pete-Clearwater/Tampa, and seasonally to Myrtle Beach.
