President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Iran should “wave the white flag of surrender,” asserting that the country’s military capabilities have been significantly diminished amid ongoing regional tensions.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said Iran’s forces have been reduced to limited offensive actions, describing their capabilities as “peashooters.”

“They play games, but let me just tell you, they want to make a deal. And who wouldn’t, when your military is totally gone?” Trump said.

The president also pointed to the effectiveness of the U.S. blockade targeting Iranian ports, saying it has deterred challenges and strengthened U.S. leverage in the region.

“It’s like a piece of steel. Nobody’s going to challenge the blockade. And I think it’s working out very well,” he said.

When asked what actions by Iran would constitute a violation of the current ceasefire, Trump declined to provide specifics.

“Well, you’ll find out, because I’ll let you know … They know what not to do,” he said.

Trump added that Iran “should save the white flag of surrender,” suggesting that in a conventional conflict scenario, hostilities would have already ended.

“If this were a fight, they’d stop it,” he said.

The remarks came as Trump also signed a proclamation restoring the Presidential Fitness Test and Presidential Fitness Award in U.S. public schools, appearing alongside professional and youth athletes during the Oval Office event.
