Actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement in a high-profile lawsuit stemming from the production of the 2024 film It Ends With Us, just weeks before the case was set to go to trial.

The legal dispute began in 2024 when Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of harassment, sexual misconduct and orchestrating a smear campaign during filming. Baldoni denied the allegations and responded with a counter-suit, alleging defamation and reputational damage.

The case exposed private communications among Hollywood figures, including messages involving Lively, Baldoni and other high-profile contacts. At one point, Baldoni also filed lawsuits against Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and media outlets, claiming a coordinated effort to damage his career.

In a joint statement released Monday, attorneys for both parties confirmed the settlement, calling the film “a source of pride” and emphasizing a shared commitment to raising awareness about domestic violence. The statement acknowledged that concerns raised by Lively “deserved to be heard” and reaffirmed a commitment to safe and respectful workplaces.

The settlement comes after a judge dismissed most of Lively’s claims, leaving only three — breach of contract, retaliation and aiding retaliation — ahead of a planned trial in New York on 18 May. Baldoni’s counter-lawsuit was also dismissed.

The film, based on a novel by Colleen Hoover, explores themes of domestic abuse through Lively’s character, Lily Bloom.

Both actors said they hope the agreement brings closure and allows all parties to move forward constructively after a contentious and widely followed legal battle.
