President Donald Trump has emerged as an early betting favorite for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, according to a U.K.-based bookmaker, even as the official list of nominees remains undisclosed under long-standing confidentiality rules.

The betting firm William Hill has assigned Trump 3/1 odds to receive the award, indicating a leading position among potential contenders. A spokesperson for the company said that, although the Norwegian Nobel Committee has not confirmed any names, the firm considers Trump the most likely recipient based on current market assessments, as reported by Mediaite.

“Although the Norwegian Nobel Committee have not confirmed that Donald Trump is among the 287 candidates for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, we make Trump the leading contender to take this year’s award,” William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said.

Phelps added that Trump’s current odds represent a 25% implied probability of winning the prize, a lower estimate than previous projections by the firm, which had earlier placed his chances at a higher level.

The Nobel Peace Prize nomination process is conducted under strict secrecy, with names of candidates withheld for 50 years. However, officials confirmed that hundreds of nominations are submitted each year by eligible individuals, including lawmakers, academics, and former laureates.

While bookmakers and prediction markets routinely publish odds on potential winners, these projections do not reflect official deliberations by the Nobel Committee. Analysts note that betting markets can shift frequently based on global events, diplomatic developments, and public perception.

Trump has previously argued that his foreign policy efforts merit consideration for the award, pointing to actions taken during his presidency. Supporters have cited initiatives such as ceasefire efforts in conflict regions as part of that case, although no official confirmation of his nomination status is available.

The most recent Nobel Peace Prize, awarded in 2025, went to Venezuelan opposition figure Maria Corina Machado, who was recognized for her work promoting democratic reforms and a peaceful political transition.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee is expected to announce the 2026 Peace Prize recipient in October, following its standard selection timeline.
