House Oversight chairman seeks documents tied to claims that administration officials and advocacy group aligned on legal action against firearm manufacturer.

Rep. James Comer on Thursday requested federal records as part of an ongoing investigation into whether officials in the Biden administration coordinated with a gun control advocacy organization to pursue litigation against a firearm manufacturer.

In a formal request for information, Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, asked the National Archives and Records Administration to provide documents related to potential interactions between federal officials and advocacy groups concerning legal efforts targeting gun makers.

The inquiry centers on allegations that administration officials may have worked in conjunction with Everytown for Gun Safety to support or initiate litigation against Glock, a firearm manufacturer. According to Comer, the investigation is examining whether such coordination influenced a lawsuit filed in 2024.

In a separate letter, Comer detailed concerns about a December 2023 meeting between the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and representatives from Glock. “On December 20, 2023, the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention met privately with representatives from Glock, during which the Biden Administration requested that Glock change their pistol designs,” he wrote.

Comer noted that approximately three months later, on March 19, 2024, the city of Chicago filed a lawsuit against Glock in state court, with Everytown Law listed as counsel for the plaintiff.

The lawmaker also pointed to public remarks made by an Everytown official on the same day the lawsuit was filed, referencing the earlier White House meeting despite not being present. Comer said the comments raise questions about how details from the meeting may have been obtained.

“Mr. Feinblatt appears to have had insider information regarding the WHOGVP’s private meeting with Glock, which raises questions about whether the Biden Administration colluded with Everytown to initiate their lawsuit against Glock,” Comer wrote.

The investigation is also reviewing potential conflicts of interest involving personnel movement between government agencies and advocacy organizations. Comer cited instances in which individuals who previously worked with Everytown later held roles within the administration, as well as a former federal firearms official who joined the organization after leaving government service.

Comer has requested that the National Archives produce relevant records by May 14 as part of the committee’s inquiry. The Oversight Committee has not indicated when additional findings or hearings related to the matter may be announced.
