MIDDLETOWN- Parents and caregivers in the Hudson Valley will have an opportunity to make sure their youngest passengers are riding safely later this month, as the New York State Police Troop F announces a free car seat safety check event in Middletown.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Troop F Headquarters, located at Troop F Headquarters.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on-site to inspect car seats, ensure they are properly installed, and answer questions from families.  The goal is to help parents and caregivers feel confident that children are traveling as safely as possible.

Officials say no appointment is required, but scheduling one in advance is encouraged by calling Troop F Traffic at 845-344-5327.

Families attending the event are asked to bring their child if possible, along with both the car seat manual and the vehicle’s owner manual. Attendees should also plan to allow enough time for a thorough inspection.

According to state police, proper car seat use can significantly reduce the risk of injury in the event of a crash.  Troopers are encouraging all parents and caregivers in the region to take advantage of the free service.
