President Donald Trump said Friday that the Department of Defense will soon release what he described as “very interesting documents” related to unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, intensifying renewed public and political interest in the issue.

Speaking at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Trump said he had already directed officials to begin declassifying files tied to unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs). “The process is well underway, and we found many very interesting documents,” he said, adding that the first batch of disclosures would arrive “very, very soon.”

The Pentagon has not confirmed a timeline or detailed what the documents may contain. Trump has also stopped short of asserting that the sightings are linked to extraterrestrial life.

The announcement follows growing pressure from lawmakers seeking transparency around UAP investigations. Representative Anna Paulina Luna has demanded the release of dozens of videos tied to military encounters, warning that continued secrecy could raise national security concerns. She has suggested subpoenas may be used if the materials are not disclosed.

Representative Tim Burchett also welcomed Trump’s remarks, urging the administration to follow through on prior commitments.

Earlier this year, Trump ordered Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to review files concerning UFOs and potential extraterrestrial activity. The move came shortly after comments by former President Barack Obama, who clarified that while life beyond Earth is plausible, he had not seen definitive evidence during his presidency.

Previous Pentagon reports have documented hundreds of UAP sightings but found no credible proof of alien life, attributing most incidents to misidentified objects or natural phenomena.
