Vice President JD Vance said security concerns led Erika Kirk to step back from a university event following threats against her.

Erika Kirk, CEO of Turning Point USA and widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, withdrew from a scheduled campus event this week after receiving threats, according to remarks by Vice President JD Vance.
Speaking to students at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, Vance said Kirk had been expected to appear but ultimately decided not to attend due to safety concerns.
“I know that she did get some threats,” Vance told the audience. “I was a little worried that we were going to have to cancel the event because Erika was not going to come, and she was very worried about it.”
Vance said he had consulted with the United States Secret Service regarding the situation and indicated he was not personally concerned about his own security. He did not provide additional details about the nature of the threats directed at Kirk.
Neither the Secret Service nor Turning Point USA immediately responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.
Kirk’s late husband, Charlie Kirk, was killed in September during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Orem. Authorities described that shooting as politically motivated.
Charlie Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA, an organization focused on mobilizing young voters around conservative issues.
His death intensified national attention on political violence and prompted heightened security measures at campus events involving prominent political figures.
