The federal government on Tuesday introduced an official online hub for the United States’ upcoming 250th anniversary, unveiling the Freedom 250 website as planning accelerates for celebrations tied to the nation’s semiquincentennial in July.
The platform is designed to centralize information on commemorative events scheduled throughout the year, while also providing educational materials focused on the country’s history and founding.
Freedom 250 CEO Keith Krach said the launch represents a key step in coordinating national participation in the milestone.
“As the country looks ahead to its 250th birthday, the launch of this platform marks a defining step in bringing that vision to life,” Krach said in a statement. “It establishes a single, inspiring destination where Americans can come together to reflect on our past, celebrate our present, and build toward the next 250 years of freedom and opportunity.”
Among the major events planned in Washington, D.C. are a “National Jubilee of Prayer” scheduled for May 17, the Great American State Fair beginning June 25, and an IndyCar street race set for Aug. 21.
Organizers said additional events across the country will be highlighted on the site as they are finalized. A comprehensive schedule of activities is available here.
The anniversary marks 250 years since the founding of the United States, with federal and local organizers planning a series of commemorations intended to span historical reflection, cultural programming, and public participation nationwide.
