GOSHEN – State roads in Orange County are in very poor condition and are in need of significant repairs, County Executive Steven Neuhaus said Thursday.
Many are rated at 55 percent in terms condition by the National Engineers Association, he said.
And he blames state lawmakers for not providing sufficient funding to repair them.
“The county as a whole is very disappointed with our state representatives because they blame everybody else but themselves,” he charged. “The state is responsible for state roads, that includes state representatives, just like the county legislature and the county executive are responsible for the county roads and bridges.”
Neuhaus points to Route 17 in Orange County saying it needs a complete overhaul.
