KINGSTON – Axon Enterprises, which provides body cameras and other equipment and services for the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, but the County Legislature’s oversight committee Tuesday held off on approving some $4.5 million pending further scrutiny of the costs of body cameras, dash cameras and other products.

Debra Conklin, chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee said AI is also part of the service package, for which they would like additional information.

“AI is kind of where we are going and as a result we need to utilize if effectively in the sheriff’s office and in the county as a whole,” she said.

Conklin expects the funding will be approved at the county’s next meeting in May.
