Two people were killed in an Iranian missile strike on the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan early Wednesday.

The attack, which involved Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr ballistic missiles equipped with cluster warheads, was described by Iranian sources as retaliation for Israel’s recent targeted killings of senior Iranian officials.

Footage from the incident showed bomblets dispersing mid-air over urban areas, causing extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure, including impacts near residential zones and transportation hubs. The victims—an elderly couple in their 70s identified as Yaron and Ilana Moshe—were reportedly struck by shrapnel while attempting to reach a protected space and were pronounced dead at the scene by Magen David Adom paramedics.

The strikes followed Israel’s confirmation of eliminating several high-ranking Iranian figures in recent days:

  • Ali Larijani, a top national security official and secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, was killed in an Israeli airstrike near Tehran.
  • Esmail Khatib (also spelled Esmaeil Khatib), Iran’s Minister of Intelligence, was killed in a separate targeted strike in Tehran, with his death confirmed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
  • Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the Basij paramilitary force (part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), was also reported killed in Israeli strikes.

Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of Hassan Ali Marwan, the commander of the Imam Hussein Division—an Iranian militia affiliated with the Quds Force that coordinates with Hezbollah and conducts operations against Israel. Marwan was killed in a strike in Beirut, less than a week after his predecessor in the role was similarly targeted.

The IDF described the division as a key tool for advancing Iranian interests through missile, UAV, and rocket attacks on Israel.

Iran’s barrage also reportedly targeted other areas, including U.S. bases and sites in Gulf states, amid escalating regional tensions. Israeli authorities noted multiple impact sites in central Israel, with air defenses intercepting many projectiles but some causing casualties and property damage from falling debris and direct hits.
