LAKE MAHOPAC- Temperatures flirted with 40 degrees Saturday as dozens of men, women, and children braved strong winds and frigid water temperatures by jumping into Lake Mahopac for Operation Ice Splash 2026.

The event attracted hundreds of onlookers who cheered as more than 100 participants entered the lake from a dock behind the Mahopac VFW Post while members of the Mahopac and Mahopac Falls Fire Departments dressed in wet suits provided support to the jumpers if needed.

The event raised money for the VFW which benefits local veterans countywide.
