A remote ranch in New Mexico that once belonged to Jeffrey Epstein is now the focus of renewed investigations, with authorities launching searches across parts of the property often described as potential “dig sites.”

The property, known as Zorro Ranch, sits roughly 30 miles south of Santa Fe and spans thousands of acres of desert land. Epstein purchased the ranch in 1993 and built a large compound including a mansion, private runway, guest houses, and other facilities.

For years, the ranch remained one of the least examined properties connected to Epstein’s network. But recently released documents and testimony have triggered a new wave of scrutiny from state investigators and lawmakers.

Why Investigators Are Digging

Authorities reopened the investigation after newly unsealed FBI files and other evidence suggested the ranch may have been used for sex trafficking and abuse of underage girls.

One disturbing allegation came from a former employee who claimed that two young girls may have died at the property and were buried in the surrounding hills. Investigators say the claim has not yet been proven, but it is serious enough to warrant a full search of the area.

Because of those allegations, investigators are reportedly examining land surrounding the ranch to determine whether any burial sites or other physical evidence may exist.

What the “Dig Sites” Actually Are

The term “dig sites” refers to areas where authorities believe evidence might be buried or hidden.

In cases like this, investigators may search locations identified by witnesses, examine unusual ground disturbances, or use forensic technology such as ground-penetrating radar to locate anomalies beneath the surface.

If something suspicious is found, those areas may then be excavated carefully by forensic teams.

Law enforcement has not confirmed whether any human remains or evidence have been discovered so far.

Why the Ranch Was Not Fully Investigated Earlier

One of the biggest questions surrounding Zorro Ranch is why it was not searched earlier.

The original state investigation into activities at the ranch was halted in 2019 at the request of federal prosecutors while Epstein was facing charges in New York.

After Epstein died in jail that same year, the case in New Mexico lost momentum.

Now, with new information emerging from the release of federal documents and testimony from alleged victims, state officials say the investigation must continue.

A Truth Commission and Renewed Probe

New Mexico lawmakers have also created a special commission tasked with investigating what happened at the ranch and whether crimes were committed there over a period of decades.

The goal, according to officials, is to determine whether victims were trafficked or abused on the property and whether there was a failure by authorities to fully investigate earlier warnings.

Bottom Line

The renewed search at Zorro Ranch is part of a broader effort to uncover what really happened at one of the most mysterious locations tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

For now, investigators say they will “follow the facts wherever they lead.”

And until the investigation is complete, the desert hills surrounding that ranch may hold answers that have been hidden for years.
