NEW WINDSOR – Armed with a $500,000 Environmental Protection Agency grant from Washington, the Orange County Industrial Development Agency has begun a new initiative to identify and remediate contaminated brownfield sites to redevelop them.

IDA Executive Director Bill Fioravanti said the agency will target those sites specific uses going forward.

“Our goal on sectors food and beverage, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, tourism destinations; we want to continue to have a diverse economy here in Orange County, and we are trying to prepare future sites to continue to bolster that,” he said.

The IDA’s mission is in tandem with the Orange County Partnership and the county Economic Development Department.
