House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) said this week that several high-profile figures and a prominent family allegedly made direct payments to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, citing information from Epstein’s former accountant.

During a television interview, Comer said the individuals identified included Les Wexner, Leon Black, Glenn Dubin and Steven Sinofsky, along with members of the Rothschild family. According to Comer, the payments were described by Epstein’s former financial accountant.

A video clip circulating on social media captured Comer discussing the issue and the individuals reportedly connected to financial transfers to Epstein.

Comer also referenced communications previously released by the Department of Justice that included an email in which Epstein stated he worked for members of the Rothschild family.

In the same interview, Comer raised questions about a federal investigation related to Epstein’s Zorro Ranch property in New Mexico.

According to Comer, the Justice Department during the Trump administration halted a probe in 2019 involving activities connected to the ranch.

The property has been the subject of allegations from several individuals who have claimed that serious crimes occurred there over a number of years.

State investigators in New Mexico have recently begun examining the site again as part of ongoing inquiries tied to allegations surrounding Epstein’s operations.

The investigation referenced by Comer took place during the tenure of former Attorney General Bill Barr, who led the Justice Department at the time.

Barr had recused himself from the department’s review of Epstein’s 2008 federal prosecution in July 2019 because his former law firm, Kirkland & Ellis, had previously represented Epstein.

Barr’s father, Donald Barr, served as headmaster of the Dalton School in New York City from 1964 to 1974. During that time, Epstein was hired in 1974 to teach math and science at the school when he was 21 years old.

Epstein, a financier who maintained connections with numerous prominent individuals, was arrested in 2019 on federal charges related to sex trafficking involving minors. He died later that year in a New York jail while awaiting trial.

Questions about the scope of Epstein’s network and the extent of involvement by associates have remained the subject of continued public interest and investigative efforts.
