President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran over potential attempts to mine the Strait of Hormuz, saying U.S. forces have already destroyed vessels believed to be connected to mine-laying operations in the strategic waterway.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump said Iran must immediately remove any explosive devices that may have been placed in the strait, a narrow passage through which a large portion of the world’s oil supply is transported each day.

“If for any reason mines were placed, and they are not removed forthwith, the Military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before,” Trump wrote. “If, on the other hand, they remove what may have been placed, it will be a giant step in the right direction!”

The warning comes amid rising tensions tied to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, which has raised concerns about disruptions to global energy shipments moving through the Persian Gulf.

Trump said U.S. forces are actively monitoring the waterway and are prepared to act against any vessels suspected of attempting to deploy mines.

According to the president, the military is using advanced surveillance and weapons systems previously deployed in operations against maritime drug trafficking to counter the threat.

He said those capabilities would be used “to permanently eliminate any boat or ship attempting to mine the Hormuz Strait.”

“They will be dealt with quickly and violently. BEWARE!” Trump wrote.

In a subsequent post, Trump said U.S. forces had already destroyed ten Iranian vessels believed to be associated with mine-laying operations.

“Ten inactive mine-laying boats or ships have already been destroyed, with more to follow,” he wrote.

The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is considered one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints. Roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments typically passes through the narrow waterway, making any disruption a major concern for international energy markets.

Military officials have warned that mining the strait could significantly affect shipping traffic and oil prices, potentially triggering wider economic consequences.

Trump’s comments signal that the United States intends to keep the waterway open while the conflict with Iran continues.
