Israeli forces carried out a strike Tuesday targeting what was described as a meeting of Iran’s Supreme Council, according to reporting by Fox News, which cited a senior Israeli official.

The official said the gathering was convened to discuss succession plans following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Details about the location of the meeting and the extent of casualties were not immediately disclosed.

The reported strike follows the launch Saturday of Operation Epic Fury, a coordinated U.S.–Israeli military campaign targeting Iranian military infrastructure and senior leadership figures.

According to Israeli officials, 49 of Iran’s most senior leaders were killed during the initial phase of the operation. Officials said the strikes were aimed at degrading Iran’s command structure and disrupting military coordination.

Iran has not publicly confirmed the status of its Supreme Council members following Tuesday’s strike.

The developments mark a significant escalation in the conflict, as leadership succession discussions coincide with continued military operations across the region.
