Netanyahu Defends Urgent Action Against Iran, Praises Trump’s Leadership in Fox News Interview

During a Monday appearance on Hannity on the Fox News Channel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a strong defense of recent actions taken against Iran, arguing that the situation had reached a critical point that left no room for delay.

Netanyahu explained that the decision to act was driven by what he described as alarming intelligence developments. According to him, Iran had begun constructing new fortified sites and underground bunkers designed to shield its ballistic missile and nuclear programs from future military intervention.

He warned that these new facilities would have rendered Iran’s weapons programs effectively untouchable within a matter of months.

“The reason that we had to act now,” Netanyahu said, “is because after we struck their nuclear facilities and ballistic missile infrastructure, one might assume they would reconsider their course. But they didn’t. Instead, they doubled down.”

He characterized Iran’s leadership as ideologically rigid and committed to long-term strategic goals, including hostility toward the United States and Israel. Netanyahu argued that rather than scaling back, Iranian officials accelerated efforts to rebuild and harden their weapons capabilities.

The underground bunkers, he claimed, were specifically designed to make Iran’s ballistic missile and potential atomic weapons programs immune to future strikes.

“If no action was taken now,” Netanyahu stated, “no action could be taken in the future.” He emphasized that waiting would have allowed Iran to reach a point of strategic immunity, limiting the ability of other nations to deter or disrupt its military ambitions.

Netanyahu further warned that an emboldened Iran could use advanced missile capabilities not only to threaten Israel, but also to directly target American interests. He suggested that Tehran could leverage such power to blackmail or intimidate the United States and its allies, reshaping the balance of power in the region.

In his remarks, Netanyahu also praised former U.S. President Donald Trump, describing him as a resolute leader willing to make difficult decisions. He highlighted the strength of the U.S.-Israel alliance, calling it a decisive factor in confronting what he referred to as the “Iranian regime.”

“You needed a resolute president to take that action,” Netanyahu said, adding that Israel stands as a “strong and able partner” in its strategic partnership with the United States. He stressed that the coordination between the two nations remains robust and essential in countering shared threats.

Concluding his remarks, Netanyahu reiterated that the timing of the action was critical. In his view, failing to respond decisively would have allowed Iran to secure long-term protection for its military programs, effectively granting it immunity from future consequences.

The interview underscored the ongoing tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear and missile ambitions and highlighted the high-stakes calculations shaping security decisions in the region.
