CARMEL – County Executive Kevin Byrne has received the unanimous support of the Putnam County Republican Committee for his reelection.

Byrne, a former assemblyman who ran unopposed four years ago succeeding Mary Ellen Odell, expressed his gratitude to the GOP delegates.

Byrne said under his administration, the county had built “real momentum by focusing on affordability, accountability, and accessibility.”

Byrne said he was “proud to run alongside an outstanding slate of Republican candidates, from our county legislature to Congress, who are committed to delivering results for the people of Putnam County.”

Byrne outlined his accomplishments that include delivering the largest property tax cut in county history, strengthening public safety, securing long-term labor agreements, and advancing major infrastructure investments while maintaining the county’s strong financial standing.

Byrne will not be experiencing a free ride this year as Brett Yarris, who ran unsuccessfully for the Putnam Legislature in November will announce his intention to run for the county’s top political post on the Democratic ticket during a news conference in Garrison on Sunday.
