President Donald Trump addressed comments made by former President Barack Obama regarding extraterrestrial life during a Thursday flight aboard Air Force One, raising concerns about the handling of classified information and signaling he may consider declassifying certain materials.

Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked the president, “Have you seen any evidence of non-human visitors to Earth?”

Trump replied, “He gave classified information, he’s not supposed to be doing that.”

The exchange, captured in a widely shared video clip, continued as Doocy pressed, “So, aliens are real?”

Trump responded, “Well, I don’t know if they’re real or not. I can tell you he gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that. He made a big mistake. He took it out of classified information. No, I don’t have an opinion on it. I never talk about it. A lot of people do. A lot of people believe it.”

The president then turned the question back to the reporter, asking, “Do you believe it Peter?”

When Doocy noted that a sitting president has the authority to declassify information, Trump replied, “Well, maybe I’ll get him [Obama] out of trouble. I may get him out of trouble by declassifying.”

Obama’s remarks stem from a recent podcast appearance in which he discussed the possibility of extraterrestrial life. During the interview, he stated that aliens are real but said he had not personally seen any evidence and denied the existence of secret holdings at Area 51.

“There’s no underground facility — unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the President of the United States,” Obama said.

After the comments gained attention, Obama sought to clarify his remarks, explaining they were made during a rapid-fire portion of the discussion. In a follow-up statement shared publicly, he wrote, “Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there.” His clarification was highlighted in a separate social media post.

The discussion comes amid renewed public interest in unidentified aerial phenomena and government transparency. Earlier this month, Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison (R) claimed during an appearance on the ALN Podcast that President Trump is preparing to acknowledge that extraterrestrials have visited Earth and that the U.S. government has recovered alien materials and craft. A clip of those remarks circulated online in a widely viewed post.

The White House has not announced any formal declassification plans related to unidentified aerial phenomena. However, Trump’s comments indicate he is weighing the possibility of releasing information he says could address questions raised by Obama’s statements.
